WOW!!! WHERE DO WE START???
Sorry its taken so long to actually turn the computer on and post this!
Well LITTLE Aimee Caitlin Uphill has arrived and this is how it all unfolded for those who dont know.
Had been to the Dr on Monday 25th July and Dr angus was still happy with everything and didnt seem to think "waggle" was quite ready just yet.
Wednesday the 27th i could hardly sleep or lay down in the one spot for more than 10-15 mins. Woke on Thursday morning the 28th (My due date) having contractions that were irregular. Stupid me went about the day as i had planned and did the "dummy" hoot cake with small contractions all over the place.
Jono was constantly checking on me as he was out and about for work. Come 3:30pm i got a terrible back ache which soon turned in to regular contractions 6 mins apart lasting around 30 secs.
Jono came home a little bit early from work and i had a shower and tried to figure out whether we should have mum on her way to look after Harrison.
They continued at 6 mins and we ended up asking mum to come up. Got Harrison organised had dinner and they were still 6 mins apart at 8:05pm when mum arrived.
At around 9:40pm they all of a sudden cut themselves in half and they were now 3mins apart and lasting just over 1min. And thats when we got in good old filbert and drove to the hospital.
On the way there i had quite a few contractions, but when we arrived at the hospital the Lift was broken- and the only way up was to take the 2 flights of stairs!
One flight of stairs and a contraction on the landing and then another flight of stairs and two more contractions before finally making it to the birthing suite.
I was 3cm dilated and doing pretty good so we hopped in the shower for about an hour and then on the fit ball. I decided to try the gas as they became stronger.... although i think all it did was make jono laugh when i was a little "high" after a contraction.
Dr Angus came in around 12:30am and i was 6cm and he broke my waters. He left saying i will wait to hear from you, and headed home. At this stage the pain was getting the better of me and i requested the epidural.... the midwife said ok i will request it but why dont you hop back in the shower and get comfortable.
So i treid to get into the shower however with in a few minutes i was screaming i need to push and being told to get back on the bed!
Poor Dr Angus didnt quite make it home before having to come back!
With no pain relief on board Aimee was born not long after at 1:06am!
It was definantly hard and fast and very different to our experience with Harrison!!!
Unfortunately i had a Postpartum Haemorrhage and lost quite a bit of blood, but thankfully didnt need any further tranfusion or anything.
We couldnt believe how tiny she was! Here we all were - even Dr angus thinking i was having another decent sized baby- and here was miss Aimee at only 7lb 15oz!
Never in our lives did we think we would give birth to a 7lb 15oz baby after having Harrison who was 10lb 6oz!
So she was to be Aimee Caitlin Uphill
born 29th July 2011 at 1:06am
7lb 15oz (3.6kg)
52 cm long
She is soooo much smaller than Harrison ever was! 1.125kg smaller at birth!
I was in hospital for a few days, thankfully we had mum to help with Harrison allowing jono to spend some time at hospital etc. Thanks again Mum!
We had alot of visitors at the hospital... thank you all so much, especially those who travelled!
We came home Monday and have settled in very nicely and Harrison is a very proud, helpful big brother and has taken to Aimee so well.
he is very interested in everything and always talking to Aimee.
Today - 1 week since coming home- Aimee had her community nurse check. She is doing so well and it appears that my milk is as good as it was with Harrison as she is stacking on the weight !!!
I will pop a few pictures up now and blog again in a few days.
